Retail General Manager

Hemp Hop is seeking a high-energy, "lead-by-example" Retail General Manager to spearhead our retail operations. While this role requires high-level execution—working alongside the team to ensure order fulfillment and top-tier service—the primary focus is on department ownership, operational excellence, and driving local growth.

We aren't just looking for a supervisor; we are looking for a strategist who can optimize store performance, manage inventory lifecycles, and build a culture of accountability.

Management & Strategic Leadership

• Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day retail operations, ensuring the facility remains compliant, secure, and efficient.
• Team Development & Accountability: Oversee hiring, onboarding, and continuous training. Create schedules that balance labor costs with peak traffic and hold staff accountable to performance standards.
• Process Implementation: Develop and audit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve fulfillment speed, retail accuracy, and safety.
• Financial & Cash Management: Oversee cash handling, daily bank deposits, and basic departmental accounting. Monitor key performance metrics (such as Average Basket Size and Conversion Rates) to drive revenue.
• Security & Loss Prevention: Act as the primary point of contact for security protocols, opening/closing procedures, and inventory shrinkage control.

Inventory, Merchandising & Marketing

• Strategic Procurement: Manage product ordering and maintain 100% inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and state-system reconciliation.
• Vendor Relations: Proactively vet and onboard new local suppliers to keep our product selection fresh and competitive.
• Velocity Merchandising: Arrange website listings and physical displays to aggressively move slower-selling inventory and highlight high-margin items.
• Marketing Coordination: Lead local social media content, email marketing/loyalty planning, and community event coordination to increase brand visibility.

High-Level Execution (Lead by Example)

• Expert Fulfillment: Lead the team in packing curbside, delivery, and shipping orders (USPS/UPS) to meet strict daily deadlines.
• Customer Advocacy: Handle high-level customer inquiries and conflict resolution via phone and email to ensure long-term retention.
• Compliance Auditing: Ensure every sale and shipment meets rigorous state and federal regulatory requirements, including ID verification and packaging standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience: 5 years of Customer Service experience; 2 years in a retail management or "Keyholder Plus" role is mandatory.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of cannabis, cannabinoids, and the legal landscape (Hemp/CBD/THC).
• Technical Skills: Proficient in POS systems, Excel/Spreadsheets, and digital marketing tools. Experience with Shopify is a major plus.
• Leadership Style: Proven ability to provide constructive feedback and remain "always available" for emergency team support.
• Physical: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Compliance: Must be 21 and pass all required background checks.

• Job Type: Full-time
• Pay: Starting at $20.00 per hour (Commensurate with experience)
• Schedule: Full availability required, including evenings and weekends.
• Location: Charlotte, NC (One location)
