The Company is developing several distinct and complementary product candidates, as well as a platform technology that it uses as an engine for novel product development.
Role Description
Hemogenyx Pharmaceuticals seeks a creative and motivated Scientist to translate our Chimeric Bait Receptor (CBR) based product candidates from R&D to clinical stage product. This individual will be instrumental in building converting CBR-programed immune cells into new medicines.
The successful candidate will closely interact with the team of scientists and actively participate in implementation and execution of rapid concept-design-build-test cycle of the drug and disease treatments development.
Research and Development projects will be focused on therapeutic areas related to cancer and emerging viral infections. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills of the candidate are essential for the success of our company.
• Design and perform experiments.
• Work closely with company leadership to plan and execute Hemogenyx’s projects activities.
• Work independently, creatively and in collaboration with other members of the team to design and implement key experiments to address aspects of the basic and translational biology of cellular targets, link to human disease and validate mechanisms of action of product candidates.
• Analyze, interpret, and present scientific data, draft technical reports, prepare publications and present results at internal and external meetings.
• Assist with submission of IACUC protocol.
• Design, test, and develop new modular chimeric receptors.
• Design, and test new DNA/mRNA/circRNA constructs, including testing of various formulations.
• Design, package, and test new LVV/AdV/AAV/LNP/EV delivery systems.
• Design and perform cell-based assays, including cytoxicity, phagocytosis, and neutralization.
• Design and perform binding assays based on flow cytometry and ELISA.
• Perform PK/PD and functional studies in mice.
Qualifications and Skills
• PhD and industrial or postdoctoral training (1-3 years) in Immunology, Cell Biology, Life Sciences or a related field is REQUIRED.
• Skilled immunologist and molecular biologist with in-depth knowledge of hematopoietic system with hands-on experience in tissue culture and RNA-based therapeutics design.
• Experience with myeloid cell subpopulations, including good understanding of macrophage biology.
• Experience with immunotherapies, including cell therapy, antibodies, immune-cell engagers. Understanding of drug delivery vehicles.
• Exstensive experience with in vivo xenograft humanized mouse models, including tail vein injections, submandibular bleedings, subcutaneous injections, blood and tissue processing.
• Extensive experience with flow cytometry, cell sorting, cell culture, cytokine assays.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong collaborative and team-work skills.
• High level of self-motivation, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, goal- and team-oriented biotechnology startup environment.
