POSITION OPENING
MTSS & Tier 1 Instructional Coach (K-8)
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
- Strong English Language Arts skill set with a focus on literacy.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices across Tiers 1-3 within an MTSS framework.
- Training or experience with literacy, mathematics, and intervention supports.
- Experience with a variety of assessment tools and strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting.
Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Primary focus on K–8 coaching with occasional K–12 support and professional development.
- Use academic, attendance, and behavior data within MTSS to identify trends and prioritize coaching.
- Analyze academic, attendance, and behavior data to identify root causes, prioritize needs, and support teams in developing targeted instructional responses.
- Support implementation of high-quality Tier 1 instruction using evidence-based practices and instructional technology.
- Provide job-embedded coaching cycles including modeling, co-planning, observations, and reflective feedback.
- Support classroom management practices that strengthen student engagement and outcomes.
- Assist with extended learning opportunities and intervention programming.
- Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction and building principals on district instructional initiatives and MTSS implementation.
- Other duties as assigned.
A successful candidate will be able to:
- Build strong relationships with staff and support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies.
- Support teachers in implementing high-quality instructional practices aligned with state standards and consistent with district curriculum resources.
- Foster positive, structured learning environments using proactive management strategies and positive behavior supports.
- Support teachers using a variety of formative and summative assessment tools to monitor student progress, inform instructional decisions, and provide timely, targeted feedback.
- Actively engage in PLC teams to analyze student data, reflect on practice, and improve instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to foster a culture of academic excellence and a positive school climate.
Salary: Negotiated, per diem basis.
