What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist-3rd Shift position at Hemco Gage?
This position is a 3rd shift position (Sunday to Thursday from 9 pm - 7:30 am)
Pay is commensurate with experience.
Primary Responsibilities for ID, OD & Thread Grinder:
- Remove material on the inner diameter (ID) of a thread ring gage, or outer diameter of a thread plug or cylindrical plug gage, holding tolerances of .0001"-.0003".
- Grind threads into the ID of thread rings according to specifications, holding tolerances of less than .0003".
· Set up and operate grinding machines - manual & CNC.
· Inspect gages throughout the machining process using bore gages, gage blocks, and other inspection tools.
· Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment in use.
· Set up and operate a CNC thread grinding machine with conversational programming. Inspect and check all elements of internally threaded gages.
· Will be operating optical comparator and lead checker, microcator, gage blocks, micrometers, etc. Will be gaining working knowledge of all tasks required to finish product to specifications. Determine the proper grinding wheels needed to complete jobs. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow preventative maintenance schedules. Must be able to run more than one machine simultaneously.
Working knowledge of blueprint reading is necessary.
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma.
Ability to understand and work with addition, subtraction, multiplication, geometry, division, percentages, and simple mathematical formulas is a must. Team attitude is a must.
Reliability and having a process-focused mindset are required.
Problem-solving is needed.
Ability to work independently is needed.
Ability to stand over a 10 hr period. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Work environment is a manufacturing plant.
