HELPING SERVICES | Prevention Coordinator Job Description
Qualifications Full-time position with 1.0 FTE dedicated to the Integrated Provider Network grant. The salary will be based on experience. Classified as Exempt.
BA/BS in Social Work, Public Health, Nursing, Health Promotion, Education, or related field. Certified Prevention Specialist or willing to become certified within 18 months of the date of hire. Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends. Ability to travel in the service area, overnight within the State of Iowa, and nationally for training. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in basic computer skills. Ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations. EOE.

Essential Duties Administrative and Responsibilities
- Assist in the completion of timely reports to funders or statistical information to the agency as requested.
- Comply with policies and procedures set by agency and program.
- Support agency electronic communication for currency and accuracy.
- Check in regularly with the Supervisor and participate in an annual evaluation process.
Program
- Assist with the implementation of the prevention work plan(s) in the service area by utilizing the Strategic Prevention Framework as a guide.
- Maintain adequate file documentation to support all process and outcome evaluation conclusions.
- Work with diverse populations including ethnic, gender, economic, and age diversity.
- Include electronic outreach/education such as Facebook, email, and website communication. Develop materials to address resource gaps in areas of substance use prevention.
- Understand and adapt to service changes in the field at the national, state, or local levels.
- Know applicable community resources and connect program participants to them as applicable.
- Participate in the onboarding process including initial and ongoing trainings throughout the grant period.
- Know and understand the Iowa and federal laws as well as surrounding state laws on substance use and control as it pertains to prevention.
- Participate in the agency needs assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and grant writing as coordinated by the supervisor or Executive Director.
- Research and increase your knowledge on substances and problem gambling.
- Perform other duties as requested by a supervisor or Executive Director.
