Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and attentive Older Adult Companion to provide personalized support and companionship to seniors and individuals with disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in senior care, home health, or assisted living environments, demonstrating a genuine commitment to enhancing clients' well-being through attentive care, engagement, and support with daily activities. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those requiring assistance with their daily routines.
Responsibilities
- Offer companionship and social engagement to promote emotional well-being and reduce feelings of loneliness among clients.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, and mobility support.
- Monitor clients’ health status by observing vital signs, patient monitoring, and reporting any changes or concerns promptly.
- Support medication administration and help maintain accurate care plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with meal preparation, light cleaning, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for clients.
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or social outings to foster independence and community involvement.
- Hours are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Smithtown location.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and hospice care practices.
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, developmental disabilities, or intellectual disabilities support is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Demonstrated caregiving skills with patience, empathy, and respect for diverse needs.
- Valid driver's license and vehicle.
