Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash handling and credit card payments
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance customer experience and increase sales opportunities
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist with merchandising to ensure the store remains attractive and well-organized
- Maintain a clean and orderly checkout area, handle cash drawer handling responsibly, and perform basic math calculations for transactions
- Support product demos when needed to educate customers about features and benefits of items
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely
Qualifications
- Previous cashiering experience in retail or grocery stores is preferred; familiarity with POS systems is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers confidently in bilingual environments if applicable
- Experience supervising or leading small teams is advantageous but not required
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising, and grocery store operations enhances performance
- Basic math skills for accurate cash register operations and retail math calculations
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and positive demeanor
- Ability to handle cash registers efficiently, manage cash drawer handling responsibly, and perform retail sales transactions accurately
- Prior experience in upselling, product demos, stocking, or retail sales is highly valued
