SEEKING READING SPECIALIST FOR 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR
The Hellenic Classical Charter Schools are public charter schools located in Brooklyn (HCCS-PS) and Staten Island (HCCS-SI). HCCS provides a classics based education in the study of humanities and literature for students in Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grades.

The Reading Specialist (K–5) will be responsible for:
- Providing research-based literacy instruction to support students in kindergarten through grade five.
- Delivering targeted reading intervention services to individuals and small groups of students.
- Assessing student reading levels using diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to identify areas of need.
- Developing and implementing individualized and small-group intervention plans to improve reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, and vocabulary.
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to support literacy instruction and intervention strategies.
- Supporting the implementation of school-wide literacy initiatives and evidence-based reading programs.
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies based on data and assessment results.
- Creating a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters student engagement and confidence in reading.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records of student progress and intervention services.
- Communicating effectively with parents and staff regarding student progress and literacy goals.
- Complying with School Board and Hellenic Classical Charter School policies, as outlined in the charter.
- Being in compliance with all state and federal rules and regulations.
- Completing all district and state reporting requirements in a timely manner.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education or related degree within the field of Education
- NYS Teaching License
- Fingerprint clearance
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
