YOUR TASKS
FORVIA Hella is looking for a Legal Counsel for its Corporate Center in Northville, Michigan. A successful candidate will be responsible for providing transactional, corporate governance, employment, and other legal support within the United States. Additionally, the Legal Counsel may be called upon to assist on commercial, litigation support, or other significant matters that arise from time to time.
Under the direction of the Head of Legal & Compliance, U.S., the Legal Counsel will ensure that the company operates within applicable law and regulation at all times, offer counsel on legal issues, and execute new policies and programs initiated by Corporate Legal and Compliance. The Legal Counsel will ensure legal compliance and limit legal and contractual risk exposure.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as a day‑to‑day legal partner to U.S. corporate functions (including procurement, sales, finance, HR, engineering, project management, and operations) by providing practical, business‑oriented legal guidance aligned with company objectives
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including general terms and conditions, supply agreements, joint development agreements, and distribution agreements
- Assist in managing pre‑litigation disputes, claims, and escalation matters
- Support coordination with external counsel on litigation, employment, and regulatory matters
- Assist with implementation and oversight of corporate compliance program
- Support internal investigations, audits, and compliance training initiatives
- Manage corporate governance documentation for the various U.S. entities.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in a company; Tier One automotive industry experience is a plus
- Admission to practice law in Michigan
- Results orientated and pragmatic approach with the ability to see the broader picture; business-first mindset and highly-skilled at finding resolution to issues within the confines of key business considerations.
- Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear manner both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work in a global matrix organization and communicate across various multicultural teams
- Excellent organizational skills
