What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician Helper position at Helix Resources?
We are currently taking applications/resumes for an EXPERIENCED Electrician Helpers for Port Fourchon and surrounding area. Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:
- Job Scope:
- Responsible for accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications safely, with the highest quality & in a professional manner.
- Required Skills:
- Experience with pulling cable
- Experience with cutting cable ends
- Experience with running and terminating cable
- Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment.
- Awareness of national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations.
- Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents.
- Requires extensive knowledge of electrical components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations.
- Must also be able to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, or instructions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Examine electrical units for loose connections, measuring and cutting wires and conduits, and drilling holes for electrical hookups.
- Assists electrician in installing and repairing wiring, fixtures, and equipment aboard ship and in shipyard facilities: Supplies electricians with materials and tools, using hand trucks, or by carrying material.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Measures and cuts pipe conduit to specified length, using steel tape and hacksaw.
- Threads conduit ends, using pipe threader, and connects couplings and conduit fittings, using wrench.
- Fabricates conduit support brackets from strap iron strips, using hacksaw, shaping dies, hammer, and punch.
- Secures brackets to bulkheads with screws and bolts and pulls wires through conduit leading to connection boxes, switch panels, and other terminals.
- Strips insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers.
- Ties or screws wires to terminals for subsequent soldering.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working at different heights
- Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks
- Required Documents:
- Driver's License/Identification Card
- Social Security Card/Birth Certificate
- MUST have PPE (hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, gloves)
- Must be able to pass drug screen
- Must have reliable transportation
- Pay:
- $20.00-$22.00 Per Hour DOE
- Weekly Pay
- Pay Schedule: Monday - Sunday
- Schedule:
- 10-12 Hour days (with weather permitting)
- Monday - Friday (Weekends as needed)
