What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipe Layer/Laborer (RA) position at Helix Resources, LLC?
We are currently taking applications/resumes fore EXPERIENCED pipe layers for the Houma, LA and surrounding areas. Duties/Responsibilities may/may not include the following:
- MUST have CONSTRUCTION background (1 Year Minimum)
- Digging/Grading trenches to lay pipe in
- Laying sections of pipe & completing connections between pipe sections
- Completing welds on sections of metal pipe where metal piping is specified
- Making connections to lines including sewer lines, water lines, & storm sewers.
- Ability to coordinate with pipe crews while working inside trench or trench boxes.
- Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
- Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing
- Install or repair sanitary or storm water sewer structures or pipe systems
- Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement, using magnetic or radio indicators.
- Grouting experience is a plus
- Experience with checking grade
- Required Skills:
- Ability to operate laser/pipe level
- Ability to understand slope
- Ability to set boxes
- Ability to set mason boxes
- Detailed knowledge of construction and pipe fitting techniques.
- Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
- Experience with machine-operated trenching tools
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
- Must have good endurance
- Will be required to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, and crawl to perform task
- Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
- Perform any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints.
- Install or use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels.
- Coordinate with operators to ensure PVC or RCP is properly connected and set to grade.
- Understand safety precautions associated with working in trenches and trench boxes.
- Must be able to pass drug screen.
- Must have reliable transportation (Will be required to travel up to a 60 mile radius)
- Duration of Job: Long term (Based on job performance)
- Pay: $14 - $17 (Based on experience) working 12 hour days with weather permitting
