Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, standards-based Chemistry instruction to 11th-grade students
- Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based labs and hands-on learning experiences
- Connect core chemistry content to maritime, environmental, and real-world contexts
- Foster a safe, structured, and academically focused classroom environment
- Use assessment data to differentiate instruction and meet the diverse needs of learners
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives
- Maintain consistent communication with families to support student growth
- All HMMA teachers are expected to sponsor at least one club or Enrichment block as part of their full-time role (not eligible for additional compensation)
- As a Verizon Innovative Learning School (VILS), teachers are expected to integrate technology effectively and support digital equity for all students
- Active participation in professional learning communities and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field (required)
- Louisiana teaching certification in Chemistry or eligibility to obtain certification (preferred)
- High school teaching experience strongly preferred
- Strong classroom management, planning, and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to use technology and culturally responsive teaching practices
