THE POSITION
Job Title: Float Relief Operator
Position Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Hourly
Department: Operations
Supervision Received: Line Supervisor
Supervision Exercised: None
Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 4 days on/4 days off
Wage/Salary: $23.50/ hour base wage shift differential for nights
Location: Mountain Iron, Minnesota

The Float Relief Operator is a key member of the Operations team who supports continuous 24/7 solar module production. This role provides flexible backfill across multiple positions, trains and mentors’ new hires, and ensures production and quality standards are met in a clean, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work within a team of operators.
· Train, mentor, and support new and existing employees.
· Learn and perform all positions on the production floor (excluding Stringer).
· Become a subject matter expert in using the Learning Management System (LMS).
· Report defective materials or quality concerns to the Line Supervisor.
· Repair solar modules while following quality standards and criteria.
· Perform soldering repairs on solar cells using proper techniques.
· Handle cells and strings with care using established methods.
· Conduct quality checks and testing procedures at all production stages.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
· Feed raw materials into semi-automated machine.
· Operate and monitor HMI systems to control and troubleshoot equipment.
· Communicate effectively with the Line Supervisor about line issues.
· Follow all health and safety policies.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Production Coordinators, Line Leads, or delegates.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Prior manufacturing experience strongly preferred; entry level candidates with technical aptitude considered.
· Strong attention to detail with ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Effective communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to use established processes to train others.
· Troubleshooting skills with ability to maintain production and quality standards.
· Comfortable using iPads and basic computer applications.
· Soldering experience preferred, training available.
· Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Must pass post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug screening.
· Position is designated as Safety Sensitive under company policy.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
· Ability to stand and perform repetitive motion tasks for 12-hour shifts.
· Ability to tolerate a fast-paced assembly line environment.
· Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening required
Compensation Package:
- Salary: $23.50 - $24.50/hr
o Night Shift premium: $1 per hour
