Job Summary
Helena Valley Health Services continues to expand and are now offering medical and mental health appointments. The ideal candidate will have experience in behavioral health, medical services, QuickBooks, excellent customer service skills and is comfortable communicating with clients to collect payments. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical and behavior diagnoses and procedures, managing billing processes, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance providers and collecting payments from clients. You must have the ability to positively communicate with clients and staff, have excellent attendance and contribute to the positive culture. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret medical records, documentation, and patient charts to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes.
- Ensure all coding complies with current regulations and insurance guidelines to maximize reimbursement.
- Prepare and submit accurate claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, tracking claim status and following up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.
- Manage medical billing processes, including generating invoices, posting payments, and reconciling accounts receivable.
- Conduct medical collections activities by following up with insurance companies and patients to resolve outstanding balances.
- Maintain detailed records of all billing activities, coding updates, and correspondence related to claims processing.
- Ensure that payments are collected at time of service and answer any questions clients may have reguarding their bill.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately interpret clinical documentation.
- Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, as well as understanding of DRG classifications.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems for documentation, billing, and coding purposes.
- Familiarity with medical records management and compliance standards for privacy and security.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review complex medical information thoroughly.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
- Ability to stay current with evolving coding guidelines and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
