Evening Custodian

At Helena Public schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As an Afternoon/Evening Custodian at Central Elementary School you contribute to this mission by keeping Central in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interuptions to the education program. You will work as part of a team of 70 maintenance personnel serving nearly 8,000 students across 18 campuses around Helena.

Some of what you will do:

• Assist in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow, lawn) etc.
• Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment etc. in the building.
• Restock disposable items and provide day maintenance person with inventory usage and data.
• Perform ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repair on plumbing, custodial equipment, building structure and hardware.
• Perform minor electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Perform light maintenance as needed.
• Assist the visiting public utilizing school facilities with directions within the building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment and/or materials.
• Maintain building and grounds security by closing the building each school day and during special events,

To become part of this dedicated team, you need:

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training;
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.

Essential functions of the position include the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning suppllies, pails and unloading trucks. Occasionaly the empoyee will lift and/or move up to 100 pounds such as bulk furniture with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Entry level salary is $17.40 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefit package consisting of up to 12 paid sick days per calendar year, 15 days of paid vacation leave per calendar year, 13 paid holidays, generous health benefits and retirement.
