What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Chef position at Helena Farm Stop?
We are seeking a new head chef for an independent restaurant in Helena, Montana. The restaurant is a long time community favorite with potential to be revitalized with new ideas. The cuisine is a regional American bistro with a strong focus on locally sourced food. Dishes are scratch made in our kitchen and there is an experienced staff ready to support.
Experience: At least 5 years of professional cooking experience, with 2 years in a leadership role (Head Chef, Executive Chef, or Senior Sous Chef). Experience in a farm-to-table, New American or fine dining kitchen is highly desirable, showcasing creativity with seasonal menus and local ingredients.
Culinary Expertise: Broad knowledge of culinary techniques and flavor profiles. Passion for scratch cooking and farm-to-table philosophy. Proven ability to develop innovative dishes while maintaining consistency and quality under a busy service.
Leadership & Management Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Experience in hiring and training kitchen staff, with excellent communication skills to maintain a harmonious and disciplined kitchen.
Operations & Cost Management: Solid understanding of kitchen operations, inventory management, and cost control. Capable of managing food costs, portioning, and pricing to meet budget targets without compromising quality. Computer skills for inventory software, ordering, and menu planning (experience with POS or restaurant management software is a plus).
Education: Degree in Culinary Arts or formal culinary training is preferred (or equivalent professional experience).
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
