The Terminal Manager is responsible for managing all operations for the fertilizer terminal.
The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. The employee's primary duty must also include the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
What your day may look like
- Manages product integrity through coordination with agents and surveyors.
- Manages and supervises the receipt, storage and distribution of products from/to, railcars and trucks and ensures all customer and vendor requirements are met.
- Assists in developing and implementing operational procedures for the efficient distribution of all products in compliance with Helena's safety and security teams and environmental guidelines.
- Conducts and plans safety meetings.
- Provides timely management reports to Division Management and others as needed about terminal activities.
- Assists in managing and ensuring all regulatory requirements are met including required inspections and that they are conducted with all regulatory agencies.
- Establishes and manages the terminal budget.
- Meets with Helena representatives, local officials, regulators and others as needed.
- Manages the physical location to help determine equipment needs, site improvements and safety needs.
- Assigns duties to location team members and evaluates the performance of the team.
- Motivates and trains the team to ensure maximum utilization of the location staff.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
- Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
Education and experience needed for this position
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 5 years Terminal or retail fertilizer operations experience at a management level.
Other skills that will help you succeed
- Knowledge of fertilizer blending systems and implementation.
- Knowledge of terminal plumbing infrastructure and Driscol pipe.
- Understands fertilizer transportation and logistics.
- Understands how to forecast product needs.
- Accounting knowledge.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office including Outlook and Excel..
- Interpersonal skills.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position is that of a typical distribution environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud and occasionally very loud. In this position, the employee regularly works near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You will be regularly required to lift or move up to 100 pounds.
