Operations Manager Needed!
Full Time (One weekend day required, occasional nights, weekends and holidays as required)
Salary: $75,000

The Operations Manager in Helen Woodward Animal Center's Adoptions department will provide day-to-day management and direction to the Adoption Services staff and assist the Adoption Services Director in the efficient overall operation of the department. We are a staple of the San Diego community, and have been saving lives for 50 years! If you have a love for mentoring leadership and professionalism, then we need you! The person in this position is responsible for implementing efficient management practices, including scheduling, payroll, hiring, performance reviews, and enforcement of policies. Duties include facilitating timely communication outside the department (with Public Relations, Social Media and Events) as necessary to draw attention to our adoptable pets and story ideas. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, with 5 years proven management experience including expense management, problem solving, planning, morale maintenance, basic human resource issues, organizational and motivational skills is required. Communication skills should be excellent, as well as being knowledgeable in PC software programs, including Microsoft Office and Windows. This person must possess the ability to take charge and react calmly and quickly in a crisis situation. Retail management background is preferred. Previous experience in a shelter facility or rescue organization a plus. Knowledge of dog/cat breeds, companion animal behavior and characteristics a plus. Public speaking skills a plus. Experience with budgeting, costing and financial reporting a plus. Must be able to meet deadlines that involve juggling multiple tasks.
