What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard position at Helen Hayes Hospital?
As a security officer, you would enforce hospital policies, maintain order, direct & screen visitors in a hospital setting, provide foot and vehicle patrols of facilities and campus (securing windows & doors). Security officers also control access to buildings and offices, monitor a fire alarm panel and respond to any life safety/fire alarms, assist the sick, injured, or persons with disabilities, submit accident/incident reports, and complete daily activity reports. Security officers will screen & maintain a roster of persons entering or leaving the buildings during prescribed hours, monitor and maintain building access and security equipment, examine building exteriors for vandalism or intruders, report building & property deficiencies. Security officers assist with inspecting campus life safety & Fire fighting equipment; assist in building evacuation & other types of facility emergencies as well as notifying the appropriate law enforcement when necessary. You must be able to stand and / or walk for long periods of time and be able to climb stairs. You may be required to work various shifts, as well as unscheduled and mandatory overtime when necessary.

Requirements
You will be required to drive a motor vehicle, you must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously there after.
You must include your Security Guard registration number and the date it expires and continuously maintain it there after.
This is a 24/7 365 work environment, you must be available days, evenings, & nights as well as weekends & holidays.
