Licensed Psychological Associate (IDD Services)

Under the clinical supervision of the Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)-Independent Practice (IP) and the administrative supervision of the Director of Intellectual Developmental Disability (IDD) Authority Services, the incumbent has the necessary authority to provide specific psychological services as an extender to individuals in need of psychological testing as qualified and trained. The Psychological Technician will conduct the administration of psychological testing and scoring of measures that the LPA-IP has provided extensive formal training and determined competency on. Assistance may be provided to complete an initial review and sorting of received records on psychological referrals with the LPA-IP’s final review before assignment and administration of required testing measures or assessments. The Psychological Technician may assist with elements of the report for information gathering, but will not be authorized to complete the interpretation, eligibility determination, or final document as this will be completed by the LPA-IP. The Psychological Technician will assist in scheduling evaluations, shadow all telehealth/in-person evaluations, psychological testing, and assessments until qualified to complete independently after clinical evaluation of competency. The IDD Authority Team Lead may act as a tertiary administrative supervisor for this position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Extender on the administration and scoring of psychological testing measures and assessments as authorized by the publisher, LPA-IP, and the Best Practice Guidelines with the Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) and Texas Administrative Code (TAC) once psychological and intellectual assessment course completion, competency review, and formal training. Initial review and sorting of referral records received. Shadow LPA-IP and complete formal training on the Best Practice Guidelines, and Related Conditions approved HHSC list, and elements of a report. Clinical and administrative direction on LIDDA principles for IDD services and psychological testing and scoring competency. Assistance of initial screening to begin the development of the psychological report with licensed professional’s final evaluation and completed report (e.g., information and data gathering only until clinically qualified to add behavioral observations). HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care throughout the agency, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served and staff. Education, Training, and Experience

Must have at least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology indicating coursework in psychological or intellectual assessments to complete psychological testing. Licensed psychological clinician will provide additional formal training once hired. Must have at least 1-2 years of experience minimum working with individuals with IDD who have a mental health and behavior support needs or linking people with IDD to mental health supports. Must possess working knowledge of fax machine, personal computer, and copier. Experience with Microsoft Office. Minimum typing speed of 30wpm. Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive Center vehicles. Must pass all Center mandated trainings.

• Must be able to competently administer and score psychological testing and assessments.
• Writing-must be able to develop and write professional service notes or reports.
• Documentation timeliness and entry to meet deadlines.
• Mathematics-basic understanding of mathematics is required in scoring testing.
• Verbal communication-must provide verbal feedback, work effectively with other professionals and the community served.
• Operation of general office equipment-ability to use a copy machine, fax machine, Microsoft Office, and calculator.
• Performs duties in a manner consistent with the agency’s commitment and ensures the individuals served and employees multicultural differences are respected.
• Must display appropriate professional interpersonal skills with individuals served, employees, and the community.

Salary : $49,000 - $54,000
