Role Summary
Helander is seeking a highly technical Quality Inspector with hands-on inspection experience, strong blueprint/GD&T proficiency, and metrology knowledge. You will perform in-process, final, PPAP, and first article inspections (FAI) using CMMs, hard gauges, and advanced measurement equipment—ensuring compliance with internal, customer, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Dimensional Inspection & Metrology
- Perform incoming, in-process, final, FAI, and PPAP inspections using micrometers, height gauges, calipers, and CMM.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, customer specs, and process requirements (AS9102, PPAP, flowdowns).
- Conduct capability studies, Gage R&R, and calibration support.
- Create ballooned drawings and complete full AS9102 forms.
Documentation & Traceability
- Record inspection results, maintain traceability, and verify compliance with QMS/AS9100 documentation requirements.
- Document and communicate nonconformances with photos, tags, and corrective action support.
Collaboration & Quality Support
- Work closely with production, engineering, and QC teams to resolve issues.
- Support overflow/backup inspections across facilities and departments when needed.
- Participate in manufacturing audits to verify process adherence and product compliance.
Required Skills & Experience
Required
- 2–3 years of hands-on quality inspection experience in precision metal manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and aerospace-grade tolerance requirements.
- Proficient in hard gauges and precision metrology tools (mics, height gauge, caliper, indicators).
- Experience with CMM equipment (Faro, Hexagon, Wenzel or similar).
- Familiarity with AS9100 / ISO 9001 / ITAR environments.
Preferred
- CMM programming experience is strongly preferred (Faro, PolyWorks, PC-DMIS, or similar).
- Experience working with large or complex metal components.
- MS Office proficiency for reporting and documentation.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
