The Customs Compliance Coordinator supports our distribution operations. This role focuses on ensuring accurate trade data capture, resolving country of origin (COO) conflicts, maintaining compliance export workflows, and managing records related to preferential trade programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES. Other Duties May Be Assigned.
- Export Data Validation:
- Review inbound/outbound shipments and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify missing or inconsistent trade data (e.g., COO, classification, licensing information).
- Resolve trade data and related requirement conflicts and other documentation discrepancies by coordinating with Traffic, internal teams, or other stakeholders.
- Escalate unresolved issues to the Trade Compliance Manager or relevant team member.
- Trade Data Collection & Records Maintenance:
- Collect, verify, and maintain supporting trade data records for shipments, including documentation for USMCA, other preferential trade agreements, and tariff-related programs.
- Ensure proper documentation is retained to support compliance, audits, and claims for preferential duty treatment.
- Reporting & Analysis:
- Generate and maintain regular reports on missing or incomplete trade data.
- Track trends in data discrepancies and recommend process improvements to minimize errors.
- Support & Backup:
- Provide backup support to other members of the Trade Compliance team, including assisting with import/export documentation, classification, and screening workflows.
- Assist with ad hoc compliance projects as needed.
- Documentation & Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate records of all compliance-related actions and communications.
- Ensure documentation supports internal audits, regulatory requirements, and preferential trade program verification.
