Heidrich’s Colorado Tree Farm Nursery is a family owned and operated Nursery in Colorado Springs. We cater both to retail customers as well as to some of the best landscapers in our local market. We are a fast-growing nursery that focuses on selling the highest quality nursery stock, providing exceptional customer service, and helping our team flourish. We believe in continued investment in both our team and our nursery!

Yard Team is the muscle of the nursery. You will be working with a great team to process incoming shipments of trees, shrubs, perennials, hardgoods, etc. You also will be loading those same plants on outgoing orders for our customers. The yard team also runs the irrigation, keeps the nursery neat and orderly. We work hard but have fun doing it!

Job Requirements:

• Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
• Must be reliable and accountable.
• Must be willing to operate compact wheel loaders, and mini skid steers after training.
• Able to work on your feet and perform strenuous tasks outdoors in various weather conditions for 8-to-10-hour days.
• Must be willing to work 5-6 days a week with overtime during our busy season. Generally, this is mid-March-early July for the Yard Team. We are a very seasonal business. Hours are heavier during the spring/summer. “Normal” in the fall and late winter, and much lighter in January and February.
• Must have valid driver’s license with clean a driving record.
• Must bring a positive attitude to a team that likes to work hard and have fun.
• Plant Knowledge is a plus but we will teach this!
• Must have general computer skills, able to operate Google Sheets.
• Must be willing to further your education.
• Must be capable of lifting 50lbs repeatedly, and willing to perform other physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Unloading/Loading and processing incoming and outgoing shipments of trees, shrubs, perennials, hardgoods, etc.
• Assist with the management of nursery stock (pulling orders, stocking material, prepping tree rows for incoming shipments, some insect and disease management, etc.)
• Help to manage repair, operate irrigation system as needed. We use basic drip irrigation, pot sprayers, and overhead water in cold frame greenhouses.
• Helping management to ensure that projects are being done in a safe, timely, efficient manner.
• Working with team members to solve problems that arise.
• Equipment Operation: Compact Wheel Loaders, Mini Skids, UTVs, Mowers, Weed Eaters, etc.
• Basic equipment maintenance (cleaning equipment, air filters, managing fuel levels, tire pressure, greasing, etc.). This also included tracking/recording maintenance on Google Docs.
• Maintaining one of the most well-kept nursery facilities in the state (mowing, weeding, grading, cleaning, small repairs/maintenance, etc.)
• Helping to ensure that the yard team members are performing all of their duties safely, and to the standard that Heidrich’s Colorado Tree Farm Nursery has maintained for several decades.
• Help to provide training to other Yard Team member on equipment and other safety measures.

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $18-$21 per hour. Annual Bonus for those that qualify.

Schedule:

• We are a very seasonal business. From April-September we do most of our business We are open six days a week. We are looking for team members who can work Saturdays . Other times of the year (not during Christmas Trees) we rotate Saturdays off. We are CLOSED all but two Sundays during our Christmas Tree season. We are closed approx. two weeks for Christmas and New Year. In January and February, we relax and recover with only 3–4 day work weeks.
• Overtime is available during our busy season.
• Shifts are 7:30am-5:15pm most of year. 9am-4pm in the winter. During Christmas Trees shift vary based on weather.
• Seasonal Staff: We do offer part time/seasonal shifts as well. The pay range and benefits for those positions will be different than our full time/full year team members. This can be great for full or part time students.
