Summary:
Under guidance from the Controller, the staff accountant I will be primarily responsible for payroll and grant reporting duties.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Responsible for timely and accurate grant invoicing, draw-downs and reporting
- Reconciles grant reports with the budget and general ledger
- Assists Program Directors/Project Coordinators in investigating budget variances and timely grant spending
- Backup for completing full-cycle payroll process, which includes reviewing payroll ledger for accuracy. Completes and reconciles payroll transmittal. Process and maintain employee payroll database and other records
- Responsible for tracking, reconciliations, and payment of all benefits
- Responsible to back up accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Responsible for general ledger entries, reconciliations, and investigating variances
- Prepare financial analysis and provide expert financial perspective and opinions
- Responsible for fixed asset tracking and maintaining database
- Performs other related duties, as assigned
- Supervisory Duties: none
- Strong computer skills. Must be proficient in developing complex spreadsheets
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree is required. An accounting degree or related field with at least 2 years of accounting experience is preferred. Professional experience working in a non-profit environment preferred
- Grant administration experience preferred
- Exposures: Controlled inside work environment with noise/vibrations from general office equipment. Minimal exposure to fumes/dust/odors. Requires extensive work using a computer
- Work Type: Light, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Climbing/Balancing/Freedom to Move: Minimal required to move about office. Sit about 75 percent of time
