Overview of the Position:

Provide engineering design, build, troubleshoot, repair, and / or modify an array of specialized test systems and fixtures, and assembly and inspection tooling from schematics and/or written instructions (specific or inferred). The Mechanical Engineer has the responsibility and authority to perform assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop mechanical design and drafting skills, including basic machining knowledge as applicable. Be key focus and provide expertise on new product introduction.
  • Develop electromechanical skills to include understanding and use of switches and sensors, application and measurement of mechanical load and position.
  • Complete appropriate test documentation and certifying to test results.
  • Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic equipment and techniques.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

  • Computer Skills: Proficient in use of typical MRP system software, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project.

Education / Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar field from a four-year college or university, and 2 - 3 years of working experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Aviation component repair or manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Must have familiarity with standard Microsoft office suite.
  • Must be able to generate and update CAD models and drawings using Solidworks and / or Inventor programs.
  • NI / Labview experience, electrical aptitude, military, and aerospace industry experience are all a plus.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fraction, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply mathematical concepts related to engineering principals needed to perform the job requirements.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Is frequently required to talk or listen.
  • Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Works in moderate noise levels.
