Job Summary
Heggen Law Office is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our Accounting team. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, including, but not limited to, entering payments, ensuring accuracy of transactions, and data entry. This role requires the ability to learn and work with a unique database, proficiency with accounting software like QuickBooks, outstanding communication skills, and a solid understanding of financial concepts, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. An ideal candidate is looking for a stable, long-term opportunity as this position could develop into a larger role with company over time.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting tasks.
- Process journal entries and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
- Conduct account analysis and support budgeting processes.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks for data entry and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of electronic billing, as well as experience with A/R and processing invoices and payments.
- General administrative support, including scanning documents, making copies, sorting mail, and other general office tasks, will be part of this position.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP standards.
- Provide assistance during audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on financial regulations and best practices.
Experience
- 3-5 Years proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, preferably within both corporate and public accounting environments.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial services principles.
- Excellent math skills with the ability to perform 10 key typing efficiently.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
