Licensed Landscape Architect

Heffner Design Team is a well-established, award-winning landscape architecture firm with a diverse portfolio. Our San Antonio office is currently seeking a Landscape Architect. Licensure is preferred but not required. We have a combined 50 years of experience in all areas of exterior space design and construction. We are a talented group of licensed professionals passionate about creating exceptional outdoor spaces. Key staff members are fluent in design practices for public spaces, private residences, and commercial properties. We strive to delight, inspire, and make everyone’s world a little more beautiful.

This position will serve as the representative for the San Antonio office, with support from our other offices. The ideal candidate is smart, creative, well-spoken, professional, and brings a sense of humor to a collaborative studio environment. Candidates should have approximately five to seven years of professional experience in a landscape architecture design firm.

We support a balanced and flexible work environment with a modified schedule of four 9-hour days (Monday–Thursday) and one 4-hour day (Friday), allowing for early Fridays while maintaining a full-time workload.

The selected Landscape Architect will:

• Demonstrate a strong passion for design and the ability to create thoughtful, well-functioning design solutions.
• Serve as a proactive problem solver with a strong work ethic and analytical mindset.
• Exhibit excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills.
• Possess a thorough understanding of the construction document development process and be capable of producing complete, coordinated bid packages.
• Meet with clients on-site and collaborate with the development coordinator to prepare proposals.
• Confidently present design concepts to clients in a compelling manner, while thoughtfully integrating feedback into refined design solutions.
• Be proficient in AutoCAD LT 2026 (including extensive use of xrefs), SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Publisher). Experience with real-time landscape rendering software is a plus, and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop is preferred.
• Be comfortable working in a virtual environment and proficient with the tools required to support remote collaboration.
• Must have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture
• Must have five years of professional work experience.

Benefits include a competitive salary ranging from $60,000–$75,000, based on experience and licensure (with the higher end of the range applicable to licensed candidates). Additional benefits include a 401(k) plan, Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA), and paid time off, including vacation and sick leave.
