Estimator/Takeoff Specialist

About the Role
We're hiring an Estimator/Takeoff Specialist to help our team move faster on bid opportunities. This role will focus heavily on reading plan sets, completing takeoffs, and organizing scope details for commercial and residential painting projects. Depending on your experience, you may also support estimate writing, but the main priority is accurate quantity takeoffs that help the in-house team price work efficiently and confidently.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, plan sets, and bid documents for painting scopes
- Complete detailed takeoffs for surfaces, square footage, doors, frames, trim, and related items
- Use STACK estimating to produce accurate digital takeoffs
- Support estimate preparation using the method when applicable
- Review opportunities from platforms such as BuildingConnected and PlanHub
- Organize scope notes clearly so the internal team can finalize pricing quickly
- Flag missing information, plan conflicts, or scope gaps before bids go out
- Help prioritize bid opportunities based on fit, timing, and available information
Qualifications
- Experience with construction estimating or takeoffs, ideally in painting, drywall, or related trades
- Proficiency with STACK is strongly preferred
- Experience with Method is a plus
- Ability to read architectural drawings and identify paintable scope accurately
- Strong attention to detail and solid organizational habits
- Comfortable working independently and communicating clearly with a U.S.-based team
- Honest, accountable, and self-motivated
- Familiarity with Xactimate is a bonus, though not required
