Environmental Technician
Location: Winnemucca, Nevada
Reports to: Environmental Coordinator

The Environmental Technician plays a key role in supporting environmental compliance, monitoring, and reporting across Hecla Nevada operations. This position works both independently in the field and collaboratively with environmental staff to ensure all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental inspections, compliance sampling, and monitoring activities
- Operate environmental equipment, meters, and sampling tools
- Perform data entry, validation, and management of environmental data
- Generate quarterly and annual environmental reports
- Support and oversee regulatory agency inspections
- Assist with environmental projects (e.g., stack testing, water system modifications)
- Deliver environmental awareness training to employees and contractors
- Review environmental documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Provide recommendations and problem-solving support to environmental staff and operations
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, MSHA regulations, and safety standards
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Provide administrative support as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems
- Basic math and data analysis skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in remote field environments
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- MSHA Certification preferred
- Must pass background check, physical, and drug screening
