What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Athletic Trainer/ ATC position at Hecker Sports Medicine?

The Athletic Trainer will be an intricate position working in conjunction with our providers and our current ATC on staff. The ATC will serve the medical practice in a variety of duties including but not limited to: welcoming patients, conducting patient's therapy sessions, helping patients understand the process and reasoning behind prescribed therapies, monitoring and performing secondary evaluations, and help develop therapy plans for patients. Time will be divided between the clinic and administrative tasks centered on patient care.
Position is full time 34-40 hours, Monday - Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm
Job Duties and requirements related to Athletic Training:
Requirements:
National Athletic Trainer Association Certification (NATA); State of Colorado license required.
- Experience, with at least 1 year exp. in a physician office setting, preferred but not required.
- Bachelor's degree required in related field such as Sports Medicine, Athletic Training or life sciences.
- Excellent organization and communication skills required.
- Demonstrated problem solving and work flow management skills required
- Ability to communicate with patients and provide Dr. Hecker, Nurse Practitioner, and ATC with patient progression/status.
- Ability to learn all the different modalities in the office and the ability to perform treatment on a consistent basis.
- Consistent communication on a daily basis with therapy techs in regards to treatment plans.
- Competence in performing upper and lower extremity evaluations.
Job Duties related to Medical Assisting:
Greeting patients, triage patients for history, medications, document in EMR, provide patient education as instructed. Care of patient rooms for procedures, designated supplies, maintaining cleanliness per protocol. Assist physician and nurse practitioner with procedures. Extensive communication with other physician offices, physical therapists.
Requirements:
- Must have excellent working knowledge and understanding of medical terminology and anatomy
- Confidence in performing musculoskeletal evaluations
- Prior experience with different health technologies or modalities (e-stim, ultrasound, laser, etc)
- Experience in sports medicine preferred
- Prior experience with electronic health records strongly recommended
- Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Team player with positive, enthusiastic demeanor
