Summer interns provide assistance to the land department while gaining valuable experience and insight regarding the inner workings of a land department and the land department’s role within the upstream oil and gas organization. Located in Houston, Texas. Essential Job Responsibilities: Assist the landmen, land techs and the field brokers with day to day tasks including: Assist in-house landmen with mailing out Authorization for Expenditures “AFE” to working interest partners Assist in-house landmen with ownership research Assist field landmen with title research at the county courthouse Assist field landmen with negotiating surface access and road/pipeline right-of-ways. Work royalty owner hot line desk Assist GIS Tech with mapping projects Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation. Supports company vision and mission. Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings. Other Job Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned by management. The summer intern will spend at least two to three weeks in the field working with our lead broker in one of Hilcorp’s various leasing or pipeline right-of-way projects. Locations include South Texas, Pennsylvania or Ohio. Qualifications: Previous experience with an oil and gas company land department or experience with an independent landman is preferred but not required. Education Requirements: Progressively working towards a Bachelor of Business Administration in Energy Management, Energy Commerce, Petroleum Land Management, or equivalent degree from an A.A.P.L. accredited program. Progressively working towards a Juris Doctorate, preferred. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: None.
