POSITION TITLE: Bookkeeping Operations Specialist

ACCOUNTABILITY: Vice President, Bookkeeping Operations Manager
Scope of Responsibility: The Bookkeeping Operations Specialist is responsible for performing a wide variety of operational and data processing functions that support the Bank’s daily operations. This position ensures the timely and accurate processing of transactions, provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, assists with compliance with applicable banking regulations and Bank policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by researching and resolving employee and customer inquiries regarding accounts, deposits, payments, and banking services.
- Process incoming and outgoing ACH files, returns, Notifications of Change (NOCs), reclamations, and ACH exceptions in accordance with NACHA Rules.
- Investigate and resolve ACH disputes, unauthorized transactions, and processing exceptions.
- Process incoming and outgoing domestic and international wire transfers while ensuring compliance with OFAC, Bank Secrecy (BSA), and applicable regulations.
- Perform OFAC screening and review transactions for compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Process Automated Fund Transfers.
- Process overdrafts (NSFs), non-post items, stop payments, and account adjustments.
- Process incoming and outgoing check returns, adjustments, chargebacks, and large-dollar notifications.
- Research and resolve check fraud, forged endorsement, altered check, and Positive Pay exceptions.
- Maintain debit card records and assist branch personnel with debit card maintenance, ATM issues, and card-related inquires.
- Process Remote Deposit Anywhere exceptions and verifications.
- Balance assigned general ledger accounts and reconcile operational reports.
- Generate, review, distribute, and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and regulatory reports.
- Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and courier deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with Bank Policy.
- Assist with departmental projects, system testing, product implementations, and operational improvements.
- Cross-train in departmental functions to ensure adequate operational coverage.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Bank policies, procedures, products, and applicable federal and state banking regulations.
- Complete all required compliance, BSA/AML, OFAC security awareness and other mandatory training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Contacts: The individual in this position will routinely interact with branch personnel, bank employees in various department and with external customers for the purpose of performing a variety of data processing and branch & customer support activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Working knowledge of Fedline, 4Sight, Synergy, Vertex (teller system) and/or CPS helpful, but not required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks white meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
