This position is for 2025-26 school year.
NOTICE OF POSSIBLE WAIVER: To expedite the hiring for this position, the hiring supervisor may apply for a waiver of the 15 day posting period to prevent disruption of necessary instructional or support services.
Responsible for assisting teachers and schools with providing assistance in classroom instruction, student behavioral support, and providing for the health care needs of students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations.
Candidate will need to be able to attend training for the position. Candidate must meet all qualifications necessary to be hired for the position as an instructional assistant.

The position is 6.5 hours per day and 183 days per year.
170 student instructional days, 4 paid holidays, 7 planning days and 2 extended days
(Contracted days will be adjusted depending upon start date.)

- Must have 48 semester hours, an Associates Degree or have a high school diploma and have passed the paraeducator assessment exam. Must provide a copy to HR upon recommendation to hire.
Step 0: $15.98
Step 10: $19.67
New employees to the district may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. (NOTE: It will be the responsibility of the applicant hired to submit the BCPS verification of experience form to their prior employer to complete and return to HR.)
This position is considered a ten month employee on the pay schedule. 4 paychecks will be paid at the end of June.
