Inspire Curiosity. Ignite Discovery. Teach the Future of Science.

Hebrew Academy is seeking a dynamic and passionate Science Teacher for grades 6–12 who is excited to bring science to life through the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). If you believe science is best learned by doing (through inquiry, experimentation, and real-world problem-solving), this is a role where your teaching can truly make an impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Design engaging, phenomenon-based lessons that spark curiosity and drive student inquiry
  • Bring science to life through hands-on labs, investigations, and engineering challenges
  • Guide students in thinking like scientists—asking questions, analyzing data, and

constructing evidence-based explanations

  • Use innovative, NGSS-aligned assessments to measure deep understanding, not just memorization
  • Build a collaborative classroom culture where all students feel confident exploring and sharing ideas

What Makes This Role Exciting

  • A strong commitment to three-dimensional NGSS learning (Science Practices,

Core Ideas, Crosscutting Concepts)

  • Opportunities to design meaningful, real-world learning experiences
  • A collaborative science team that values creativity, innovation, and continuous

improvement

  • Support for professional growth, including NGSS-focused development and collaboration
  • Access to lab resources and technology that support hands-on, inquiry-driven instruction

Who You Are

  • A science educator who is passionate about making learning active, relevant, and

student-centered

  • Skilled at turning complex concepts into engaging, accessible experiences
  • Committed to equity and ensuring all students see themselves as capable scientists
  • Energized by collaboration, reflection, and continuous growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Valid teaching credential/certification (or eligibility)
  • Experience teaching middle and/or high school students preferred
  • Familiarity with or commitment to implementing the Next Generation Science

Standards (NGSS)
