Austin 17 (Hwy 183/Braker) Deli - Cheese Shop Spec - Part-Time

Responsibilities

Job Summary: As a Cheese Shop Specialist, you'll provide a well-stocked, well-maintained department while providing superior customer service. You'll prepare, package, and merchandise fresh cheese on a daily basis while maintaining all food safety and sanitation standards. You'll continue to grow your knowledge of specialty cheeses from around the world.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

• Customer Service / Sales:

• Provides superior customer service
• Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
• Answers customer questions regarding products; assists them with selections
• Uses suggestive selling techniques and advanced product knowledge to meet customer needs and build sales
• Works with Deli Manager to develop sales goals and track against them

• Food Service:

• Prepares, packages, merchandises fresh product effectively
• Slices, makes specialty cuts, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
• Assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)

• Food Safety:

• Cleans and sanitizes display cases
• Operates / maintains equipment properly
• Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards, and department / Store operating procedures

Qualifications & Key Requirements:

Work Experience:

6 months of experience in cheese sales - Required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Advanced knowledge of top cheese families and selections, and the cheese-making process - Required

Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine) - Required

Strong customer service skills - Required

Communication and interpersonal skills - Required

Reading and writing skills - Required

Planning and organizing skills - Required

Education:

HS Diploma or GED or equivalent - Required

Licenses/Certifications:

Completion of Company Orientation, and food safety and sanitation training Upon Hire - Required

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

Function in a fast-paced, retail environment, in detailed and precise tasks

Work with Customers, staying attentive to their needs
