Duties
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans developed by healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and assist with meal planning and cooking to promote healthy living.
- Maintain a safe environment through regular cleaning, sanitation, and organization of living spaces in compliance with health standards.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to foster socialization and mental stimulation.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA and assist in updating individual care plans regularly.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia or Alzheimer’s care is highly preferred.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in group home settings or assisted living environments; experience with home health or hospice care is advantageous.
- Strong patient observation skills to monitor health status and recognize signs of distress or emergencies.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, assist with transfers using Hoyer lifts, and support residents during mobility activities.
- Compassionate attitude combined with excellent communication skills to build trusting relationships with residents and team members.
