Certified Home Health Aide (Hospice)

Heavenly Gates Hospice Inc. is a small business in Simi Valley, CA. Our goal is to provide and individualized program of physical, emotional, spriritual, and practical care for people in the last phases of a life-limiting illness, with an emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms. The program is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying, making it possible for them to remain independent for as long as possible, in familiar surroundings. Hospice personnel respect and respond to the unique differences in family/ caregiver, lifestyle, values, and wishes.

We are looking for a Certified Home Health Aide to join our team of healthcare professionals. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong knowledge of the principles of hospice and palliative medicine. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, organized, and able to provide quality care to patients in need.

Duties:
- Provide personal care to patients in their homes, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up patient's living space.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Home Health Aide or similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical documentation and record keeping procedures.
- Familiarity with memory care techniques for patients with cognitive impairments.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Compassionate and caring attitude towards senior patients.
- Experience with tube feeding is a plus.
