Schedule:Part-time, up to 35 hours per week. Shifts occur between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.Total hours may vary depending on position.
This is a temporary summer position and is not eligible for benefits.
Position Summary
Heathwood Hall Summer Programs are seeking enthusiastic and responsible Summer Camp Counselors to support Highlander Day Camp. Counselors help create a safe, engaging, and fun environment by supervising campers, leading activities, and assisting with daily camp routines.
Counselors serve as role models for campers by demonstrating leadership, patience, and enthusiasm while helping foster a positive and inclusive camp community.
Responsibilities
Counselors may be responsible for:
- Supervising campers throughout the camp day
- Leading or assisting with games, crafts, and recreational activities
- Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for campers
- Taking attendance and maintaining accurate sign-out records
- Assisting with snack preparation and activity setup
- Supporting daily camp schedules and transitions
- Communicating effectively with fellow staff and campers
- Assisting with additional camp operations as needed
Qualifications
Previous childcare or camp experience is preferred but not required.
Successful counselors are typically:
- Responsible, dependable, and positive
- Comfortable working with children in a group setting
- Energetic and willing to participate in outdoor activities
- Able to work collaboratively with other staff
- Adaptable and capable of handling changing situations
Availability Requirement
Counselors must be able to work at least three weeks during the summer camp season
June 1st to July 24th, excluding the week of June 29th to July 3rd.
Working Conditions
- Large campus environment requiring movement between buildings
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and outdoor activity throughout the day
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
