What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer-Eugene Franklin Blvd position at Heatec, Inc.?
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Develop programs for fabricating parts using numerically controlled machine tools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Using sophisticated CAM software, develop part programs for CNC machine tools from Engineering solid models or drawings. Determine proper feeds, speeds and cutting tools. Maximize efficiency by determining optimum cutter paths.
- Prepare work instructions for setup and operation for operators.
- Provide support to machine operators by assisting with proving, optimizing and updating programs.
- Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing departments to develop safe and efficient part processes that will support lean manufacturing goals.
- Work closely with vendors to provide optimal cutting tools and other products to support the most efficient machining practices and take advantage of new technologies emerging in the industry.
- Participate in the selection and procurement of machine tools, assist with coordinating installations and start up within established time lines, and communicate activities with all customers.
- Mentor machine operators to improve machining and part knowledge.
- Manage programming related files on the company network to maintain accuracy, security and ease of access to those who use the files.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven ability to apply mathematical principles of geometry and trigonometry to manufacture parts from engineering drawings.
- Must have minimum 5 years’ experience on a variety of CNC controlled machines. Experience on manual machines will be considered in addition to CNC.
- Must have ability to read and comprehend G code programs.
- Prior programming experience is preferred.
