What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Carpenter / Laborer position at Heartwood Homes and Gardens?
Apprentice Carpenter / Remodeling Apprentice (Paid Training Growth Path)
Pay: $18–$25/hour (based on work ethic, reliability, and growth)
Schedule: Flexible – some long days, some lighter days
I’m looking for one apprentice to work directly with me in carpentry, painting, fencing, and general remodeling. There will also be woodworking and more artistic projects in between in conjunction with jobsite work. People looking for means to express their artistic abilities in a professional setting are encouraged to apply.
This is not just a job it’s an opportunity to learn real skills, understand how jobs are run, and be part of building something bigger. I’m also in the process of developing a nonprofit focused on teaching trade skills and helping the community, and you’ll have the opportunity to be part of that as it grows.
You’ll be working side by side with me on real projects. I’ll teach you how to do the work, how to think through problems, and how to improve quickly.
This is a good fit if you:
- Want to learn a trade and actually get better every week
- Take pride in doing things the right way
- Can think critically and ask questions
- Want more than just a paycheck—you want growth and purpose
- Are adaptable (some days are long, some are lighter)
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Willingness to do physical labor (lifting, ladders, outdoor work)
- Show up consistently and on time
- Open to feedback and learning
No experience required—I’ll teach you. What matters is attitude.
What you’ll learn:
- Carpentry, painting, fencing, and remodeling skills
- Jobsite efficiency and organization
- How to communicate with clients
- The fundamentals of running jobs and building a business
This is NOT for you if:
- You want easy, predictable days every week
- You don’t take feedback well
- You’re not interested in improving
What this can turn into:
- Higher pay as your skills grow
- Leading your own work
- Long-term opportunity in the trades
- Being part of a mission-driven nonprofit helping others learn these skills
I’m especially open to people who haven’t always had a clear path into this kind of work but are ready to work hard, learn, and build something real.
If this sounds like you, apply and tell me why you’d be a good fit.
Those in recovery either from mental health and or addiction are encouraged to apply.
