Comments and Other Information
Heartwood is a dynamic new Independent Study Charter School. We seek to support locally based Independent Study students, with local teachers, classes, vendors and field trips. We are seeking teachers who are interested in building a rich homeschooling community with regular in-person activities. Some of our recent or upcoming community building events include: a community lantern walk, parent discussion groups, free classes for students led by our teachers, and local field trips.
We are a K-12 charter. Our teachers often specialize in either high school or grade school, but some teachers have students in both areas. Some of our current CSTs are specialists in a certain curriculum or educational philosophies, for example, Waldorf methods or Unschooling. We work to match the interests of our students and their families with the specialties of our teachers, creating a better, stronger relationship for both.
The Heartwood Charter School Board of Trustees and Executive Director are committed to equal opportunity for all individuals in education. Heartwood Charter School programs and activities shall be free from discrimination based on gender, gender identity or expression, or genetic information, race, color, age, religion, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group identification, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation; or the perception of one or more of such characteristics; or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
