What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern position at HEARTSHARE HUMAN SERVICES OF NEW YORK?
The HeartShare St. Vincent's Services (HSVS) Creative Solutions Program is committed to a client-centered, family-focused and culturally responsive creative approach to clinical services; welcoming all persons with kindness and respect, and effectively engaging clients in a broad spectrum of high quality, highly individualized behavioral health services. The intern is responsible for engaging individuals and families referred to the program, conducting assessments and providing creative therapy approaches for clients of the program. Therapy will be provided by a hybrid of services by teleconferencing and eventually center or home-based session (if designated as appropriate)
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:
- Will be responsible for familiarizing themselves with, acknowledging understanding of, and adhering to legal and ethical standards of the profession as defined by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA), Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB), New York State Office of Profession (NYSOP) and HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services.
- Conducts assessments, standardized screens and develops treatment plans.
- Participates in weekly supervision and training to build professional growth, ensure accountability, and quality services for families.
- Provides crisis intervention services and safety plans as needed.
- Works collaboratively with collateral contacts, team members, and internal and external providers and documents all accordingly.
- Maintains a weekly schedule and completes all documentation required in compliance with program requirements.
- Participate in internal meetings and activities
- Will participate in the practicum/internship for designated period
- Willing to do in person, video-conferencing and in-home sessions (if designated as appropriate) with clients of the program.
- In addition to duties above, performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a Graduate Art Therapy Program in Art Therapy that is recognized by the New York State Office of Professions
