Lead the Future of a Growing Practice in Decatur, Alabama
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Managing Veterinarian (MDVM) to lead a thriving small animal practice in Decatur, Alabama.
We're looking for a veterinarian with 3 years of companion animal experience who is ready to step into a leadership role. Previous Managing Veterinarian experience isn't required—we're looking for someone who enjoys mentoring others, leading by example, and helping build a positive, collaborative culture while continuing to practice exceptional medicine.
This is an especially exciting time to join the team. The practice is preparing to move into a beautiful new, state-of-the-art hospital in a prime location, creating an incredible opportunity to help shape the future of the practice. Essential Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Provide high-quality medical and surgical care, including wellness exams, diagnostics, dentistry, treatment planning, and surgery
- Build lasting client relationships through clear communication, preventive care education, and compassionate end-of-life guidance
- Lead by example while maintaining the highest standards of medical care and ethical practice
- Mentor and support associate veterinarians through collaboration and day-to-day coaching
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on exceptional patient care
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with veterinary regulations and medical protocol
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Active Alabama veterinary license (or ability to obtain)
- DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
- 3 years of companion animal clinical experience preferred
- Previous leadership or mentorship experience is a plus, but not required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing others
- Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently and assist with larger patients or equipment as needed
