Normal operating hours Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm.
We are looking for an experienced Pharmacist to join our team as Director of Pharmacy / Pharmacist in Charge!
Job Summary:
The position falls under the supervision of the Pharmacy Owners but is expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment. This position is responsible for managing the pharmacy by overseeing the prescription filling process, providing excellent customer service, and supervising pharmacy staff. Frequent independent judgements are necessary. Not only does this individual require a keen understanding of state-specific rules and regulations, but also a deep commitment to Heartland Pharmacy’s mission and vision.
Essential Functions:

· Supervise Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and support staff.
· Recruits, trains, coaches, and manages/supervises pharmacy staff.
· Upholds operational standards, including performance metrics, safety, and compliance
· Comply with all federal and state laws, regulations, and quality standards.
· Maintain appropriate security of pharmacy. Comply with all security measures.
· Read, interpret, and enter prescriptions into the online pharmacy prescription system.
· Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled. Review medication orders to evaluate accurate and appropriate drug choice, interactions, route of administration, and length of therapy.
· Compound, fill, and dispense medications safely and efficiently. Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds.
· Assist customers with medical-related issues and provide healthcare counsel through excellent customer service.
· Interact with patients, nurses, and physicians to gain knowledge and/or resolve patient issues.
· Create and maintain patient profiles and prescription information to provide accurate care.
· Work interprofessionally with healthcare staff and patients to gain knowledge and resolve issues.
Required Qualifications
· Completion of PharmD
· Must be immunization certified and CPR certification current
· Licensed in IA (currently active and in good standing)
· Ability to become licensed in multiple states (MN, WI, IL)
· Previous experience managing and operating a pharmacy preferred
· Self-directed and motivated, able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
· Organized with a strong attention to detail.
· Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
· Possess a high level of reliability, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities.
· Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy practices and procedures.
· Ability to adapt to new technology, demonstrate clinical focus, and think critically.
· Proficient knowledge of pharmacy information systems
· Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
· Mathematical abilities such as calculating discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume; basic algebra; practical mathematics.
