This role is not a remote opportunity, it is on-site at our Corporate Office in Carmel, Indiana.
SCOPE:
The Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in managing and supporting state tax functions. This includes preparing and reviewing state tax returns, researching state tax issues, assisting with audits, and supporting strategic tax planning initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong background in passthrough taxation, particularly in state income tax matters, and thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and review multi-state corporate income and franchise tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable state tax laws and regulations.
- Research and analyze state tax laws to support tax planning initiatives and minimize tax liabilities.
- Assist with state tax audits, including responding to notices, gathering documentation, and working with state tax authorities.
- Collaborate with internal finance, accounting, and legal teams to ensure alignment of tax strategies with business objectives.
- Assist in managing state tax credits, incentives, and apportionment methodologies.
- Preparation and execution of state income tax quarterly estimate calculations and payments
- The individual will deliver value through continuous process improvement in the tax compliance and reporting area
- Utilization of technology to create workpapers and import/export data
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business (Accounting, Finance, or Data related field), CPA a plus, but not required
- 3-5 years in a public tax firm with strong technical writing skills and advanced data analytics knowledge
- Experience with ONESOURCE (Thomson Reuters), preferred.
- Proficient with MS Office; advanced excel skills
- Experience querying databases for reporting and analysis purposes
- Experience building financial models for analysis of business opportunities
- Tax experience required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and interact with computers, telephone and other electronic media
- Must possess visual acuity to document company records
- Must be able to work extended hours, occasional overtime as needed
