SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This Program Coordinator leads and supports behavioral health and recovery services across rural Southwest Iowa. This position provides direct supervision to Peer Support Specialists, Care Navigators, and Care Team Specialists, ensuring that staff deliver high-quality, person-centered services in alignment with Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) standards. The role focuses on staff development, community outreach, and operational coordination, with an emphasis on strengthening connections between clients, community resources, and integrated care teams. The Program Coordinator ensures that data, documentation, and communication processes are efficient, accurate, and supportive of client and program outcomes. This position requires a strong leader with excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills, capable of fostering a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented culture within rural communities.

Compensation: between $49,200 and $62,243 per year (salary is based on total years of relevant experience)
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred
  • Three years’ experience in Behavioral Health.
  • Wellness Recovery Action Planning training (WRAP) preferred
  • One year of experience in supervising staff preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide primary supervision for Peer Support Specialists, Care Team Specialists and Navigators offering regular support, performance oversight, and coaching in alignment with agency standards and CCBHC best practices.
  • Lead staff in delivering trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care, cultivating a welcoming, inclusive, and emotionally safe environment for all clients.
  • Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff; ensure all staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for effective, person-centered service delivery.
  • Support staff in maintaining appropriate boundaries, managing crises, and implementing self-care practices.
  • Promote access to behavioral health, recovery, and support services through community presentations, events, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required documentation, including service notes, supervision logs, and outreach reports.
  • Monitor data quality, service utilization, and program performance; assist in identifying trends and solutions to improve service delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local resources to support staff in connecting clients to housing, employment, and wraparound supports.
  • Support integration of peer and care navigation services within interdisciplinary teams and care coordination processes.
  • Represent the agency and its mission at community meetings, coalitions, and regional partnerships.
  • Actively engage in outreach activities to underserved and rural areas, increasing visibility of services and connecting individuals to behavioral health and recovery support resources.
  • Maintain and regularly update a personal self-care plan.
  • Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the agency.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.
  • Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
  • Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
  • Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external trainings
  • Create, maintain and share as appropriate a dynamic self-care plan.
  • Strive to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible to contribute to the agency’s ongoing fundraising and friend-raising efforts.
  • Performs other program related duties as assigned.
