Controller/ CFO
Heartland Concrete & Construction Inc. (HCC) is a family-owned construction company founded in 1993. Headquartered in Hastings, NE, HCC has expanded to locations in Columbus, Lincoln, and Omaha, NE. HCC is now looking to expand their management team to include a hybrid controller/CFO position. This role will require a confident, team-minded leader who can work on both the details and the big picture. The Controller/CFO is the senior financial leader of Heartland Concrete & Construction and its subsidiary companies. The CFO will oversee the financial operations of the business, provide frequent financial reports, and ensure adherence to financial regulations and compliance. This is a hands-on role leading a small accounting team that requires ownership of all accounting in the company. The Controller/CFO also oversees the Payroll Manager, AP/AR Specialist, HR Manager and provides financial support to the owners. Strong organizational skills are a must. The CFO must also be willing to be flexible with roles and assist others in daily workflow should other team members be absent.
Responsibilities:
· Work as part of the management team responsible for oversite and development of all accounting and financial functions including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
· Develop metrics to manage operational efficiencies and best practices.
· Advise ownership on growth opportunities from a strategic planning and financial aspect.
· Assess the internal accounting software needs and adjust accordingly.
· Manage accounting team members and be a key contributor to overall development.
· Document and monitor internal controls.
· Manage all aspects of the financial, managerial, and operational reporting on an annual and monthly basis. (Examples include but not limited to: Depreciation Schedule, Amortization Schedules, WIP report, Debt Service Schedule, Jobs in Progress Report, and Income Projection Report, Annual Budget)
o Assist project management with budgeting on contract basis.
o Oversee annual insurance and other service providers renewal process.
o Manage account reconciliation for bank, credit card, and otherwise.
o Adhere to and maintain Federal, State, and Local tax compliance.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance.
· CPA is preferred.
· 5 years of experience in a similar role.
· Construction or small business experience strongly desired.
· Experience with accounting and payroll systems software.
· Demonstrate leadership ability with strong communication and team-oriented, solution driven, and strong analytical thinking skillset.
· Sound judgement with a high level of integrity and dependability.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
