Description
The Challenger Learning Center at Heartland Community College seeks temporary, part-time educators to design and lead hands-on Summer STEM programs for youth in grades 3–8. We are looking for educators with demonstrated experience in STEM instruction who can design and deliver unique, high-quality learning experiences that go beyond activities easily found online. Successful candidates will create and facilitate lessons that are both educational and engaging, fostering problem-solving, collaboration, and exploration.
This is an ongoing applicant pool for Summer 2026 program needs. Applicants should have a proven background in teaching or facilitating science, technology, engineering, or mathematics concepts for young learners. Qualified candidates will be contacted as opportunities arise and may be asked to provide a brief program pitch and written course overview of their proposed summer STEM course or camp. Compensation is provided for instructional time, including setup and tear-down.
Applicants are encouraged to include examples of past lesson plans or descriptions of prior youth STEM programs they have designed or delivered. The Challenger Learning Center values originality, hands-on engagement, and the ability to make science come alive for young learners.
The anticipated pay rate is $30-$35 per contact hour or above.

Salary : $30 - $35
