Summary: 

Receives, stores, cares for, processes and distributes material, equipment, and products within the company by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Blends fertilizer and chemicals according to label and work order instructions ensuring the correct product is sent to the right field or customer.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product. Receives product to be sure quantity and quality are acceptable.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for items and distributes items to customer or applicators for distribution.
  • Maintains warehouse, location grounds and equipment to acceptable company standards.
  • Maintains company inventory to acceptable company standards.
  • Drives vehicle, loader or forklift to transport items to and from warehouse or to pick up items from several locations.
  • Maintains and records maintenance and housekeeping in appropriate logbooks.
  • Ensure equipment is operating properly, clean and promotes a positive image of Heartland Co-op.
  • Contributes to an efficient application process to achieve desired custom application results.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory records.
  • Must maintain a current commercial applicator’s license and 1A, 1B, 1C, or handler’s licenses.
  • Certain branches/locations may require the employee to maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times and/or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), please see the requirements of this specific position below.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Depth perception. Employee is exposed to long seasonal hours.

 

Lift Level: Heavy

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50

pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

Able to use computer equipment related to inventory, work orders, billing and on blending equipment.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

Must maintain a current commercial applicator’s license and 1A, 1B, 1C, or handler’s licenses.

May be required to maintain a current weighing license and grain grading certificate.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
