Role Description The Location Manager is an exempt, full-time operational leadership role reporting directly to the Regional Operations Manager. This role directs daily production, warehousing, distribution, inventory control, quality management, and agronomy sales for the assigned location. The Location Manager leads facility safety compliance, product handling, and local accounting functions, including budgeting, sales, prepay, and expense reporting. Additionally, this role oversees location staffing—including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and work direction—while overseeing the safe, efficient distribution of dry and liquid fertilizer (NH3), chemicals, seed, and bagged feed. The Location Manager also performs other duties as assigned by management to support operational success.


Qualifications


  • Education & Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 1–2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Agronomy Operations Experience: Familiarity with handling and storing NH3 (dry & liquid fertilizer), bulk & packaged chemicals, seed, and bagged feed, along with supporting agronomy sales and services.


  • Leadership & Supervisory Skills: Proven ability to supervise staff, carry out managerial responsibilities, conduct interviews, hire, train team members, assign work, manage performance, and resolve operational complaints.


  • Financial & Business Acumen: Experience with location budgeting, expense monitoring, inventory control, and reviewing accounting records to maintain profitable operations.


  • Customer Service & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with customers, present operational information, handle service requests, and build morale across the team.


  • Technical & Math Abilities: Basic math skills to calculate percentages, discounts, and measurements (like volume and area), along with the ability to read and understand work instructions, safety rules, and general business documents.


  • Computer Proficiency: Practical knowledge of business and inventory management software (specifically AS 400 accounting systems), along with basic spreadsheet skills and experience using Outlook email for day-to-day communication.


  • Licensing & Physical Requirements: Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times. Ability to perform heavy physical exertion (occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs), work extended seasonal hours, and obtain a weighing license or grain grading certificate if required.
